• We use the internet like an attacker would: to simulate realistic attacks, we need to understand and use core parts of internet and telephony infrastructure to make it feel as real as possible. If it’s something an attacker would exploit, we’re using it. That’s how we train people to stop the real thing.

Who are you?

You have strong computer science fundamentals: there's a number of problems we've solved that required proper algorithms, systems-level programming, and distributed systems experience. And we're just getting started.

You can ship 0→1 and scale 1→N: you've scoped projects, communicated early, and shipped fast, ideally in TypeScript, Node, and React at a B2B SaaS startup. You take ownership, move with urgency, and care about the details. We use Remix, Express, Docker, Postgres, and run on AWS.

You think in terms of outcomes, not just tickets: you care about solving real problems and closing the loop. That means thinking through how to build the right thing, caring about the overall architecture and user experience, and making sure it delivers real value to customers.

You bring strong opinions, held loosely: you're direct, open to feedback, and focused on what's best for the team and the customer. You speak up, listen actively, and aren't afraid to change your mind when your priors go stale.

You want to build in-person: high bandwidth conversations and collaborating in person is how we move fast and have fun. We work from our office in San Francisco.

Bonus points for: experience building with AI and excitement about cybersecurity / social engineering.

Who are we?

Mirage was founded in September 2023, in response to the alarming rise in voice-based phishing attacks, enabled in part by increasingly realistic speech generation software, advanced chatbots, and other AI technologies. With security teams already struggling against a high volume of social engineering attacks, these new technological threats further tip the scales in favor of malicious actors. We are here to tip them back.
